Hillary Bison贸 Ortega 鈥�21, an art and cinema and media studies major, received a Smallen Creativity Grant for her project 鈥淎 Tale of Two Bushwicks,鈥� a photographic documentation of changes in the neighborhood where she grew up. She describes the project below. Her work and that of 12 other senior art majors is on display at the Wellin Museum through May 20.

Within the first five minutes of our conversation, art major Luke Bernard 鈥�21 admitted that he does not consider himself to be good at art. The creative aspect, he clarifies. He approaches art from a technical standpoint 鈥� he can鈥檛 paint or draw, but give him a topic and a camera, and he鈥檒l be fine, he said.

Thirteen students have been awarded Smallen Creativity grants that they鈥檒l use to support art projects and independent study. The Smallen Fund encourages student creativity among 新澳开奖 students by providing support for projects displaying originality, expressiveness, and imagination.
