In building a foundation for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), the Career Center believes all students should have access to resources that foster their success.

Students seek our support as they pursue their individual interests, which are often foregrounded or influenced by the identities they hold. They come to us  with diverse backgrounds and we recognize that marginalized identities may face more significant obstacles. Systemic injustices may include safety concerns, pay inequities, a lack of representation and community, a lack of interaction with the professional world and career knowledge, hesitance to network, and financial barriers.

We believe that all 新澳开奖 students are immensely talented and capable of thriving in whatever career path they choose. We teach students how to leverage a variety of experiences and skills, either unconventional or nontraditional. The Career Center is committed to ensuring students have the best possible experiences within the College and in the workplace. It is our goal to continue weaving DEI throughout all facets of our work.

Generalized Diversity Resources

Many organizations and opportunities define “diversity” broadly as a means to welcome all sorts of people with marginalized identities, offering a variety of stories and resources.

Racial and Ethnic Diversity

All ethnic and racial identities deserve to be represented within all industries and opportunities. Racial and ethnic diversity is key for success although there can be barriers to entry due to current racist systems. These resources are a means to highlight resources and uplift the experiences of each identity within the workplace in order to provide community and support.

International Students

International students bring valuable global perspectives but may need extra support to find employers, navigate various immigration systems, and discover where they would like to go next.

LGBTQ+

Safety, comfort, and authenticity within the workplace may be concerns of students and alumni who identify as LGBTQ+, which is why resources exist to hopefully ease the process and inform those who worry about how they will be treated in the workplace.

First Generation College Students

The needs of first gen students may vary but can include limited knowledge of career search and professional life nuances as well as increased difficulty in finding a network to support career mobility.

People with Disabilities

To ensure the success and dignity of people with disabilities, factors like accessibility and disclosure concerns may play a role.

Undocumented and DACA Students

Everyone should have access to a safe, well-paying job regardless of citizenship status.

Women

Professional standards were made within a patriarchal society and gender inequalities remain a concern.
